This website was conceived when I got tired of hearing how the Houston "Country Music Scene" sucked when compared to other Texas cities such as Austin, Dallas, Ft. Worth. I am not talking about "Nashville" top forty country music - I mean TEXAS country music. And I mean LIVE TEXAS music. The inspiration for this website comes from my very good friend Joe Parsons, the River Oaks Redneck.

Houstonians don't have a real Texas radio station, we don't have very many venues for OKOM (our kind of music), and we don't seem to have very many people who want to do anything about it. What we do have is some of the best young, and old, musicians on the planet. And I want to try to spread the word. My goal is to help every one of my musician friends, including the ones I haven't met yet, realize their dream of being able to entertain you.

What is OKOM, the kind of music I want to promote? Folks seem to want to put different kinds of music into a box and call it something. First of all you should be able to dance to it. It is not the kind of music you listen to while you are sitting back in your easy chair. It is traditional country, classic country, alternative country, Americana, rockabilly, honky tonk, cowboy music and you can throw in some old 50's and 60's rock and roll, bluegrass and zydeco. It is just plain fun.

All the musicians that are profiled on this site perform songs in one or more of these genres and they perform it extremely well. Most of them have been making people have fun and dance for years and most of them have at least one cd they have recorded. What I do is help them find places and events where they can play. We have organized or helped to organize parties and special events for more that 25 years. From parties of twenty enjoying fine food and dancing to bus road trips to the beach to on-site cooking of over 2000 pounds of brisket and ribs. We have contacts all over the city and the state in music, entertainment and food service industries. If you want some help planning a party or event or if you want us to organize everything for you from booking a band and venue to folding napkins, we can do it.
